Poplar Bluff High School released information about the November students of the month.

Poplar Bluff High School released information about the November students of the month.

Emmalein Pendley

Parents’ Names: Gretchen Pendley, Brad Pendley

Hobbies: Hunting, hiking and reading.

Community Service (Volunteer): This year I have volunteered at the Bread Shed and Lake Road’s Good Habits Store (with the interact club). In the past, I have also volunteered at Mingo National Wildlife Refuge.

High School Involvement: JV Basketball Team, Academic Team, Beta Club, Interact Club, Semester Jazz Band, Concert Band, Marching Band, Math Club.

College/Technical Plans: I plan on attending college after highschool.

Career: Biologist

Chris Simpson

My parent’s names are Rodney Simpson and Rebecca Simpson

Some of my hobbies are playing music, skateboarding, and having fun with my family and friends

I am in the Poplar Bluff Sho Me marching band in the drumline

I plan on going to the University of Michigan

My plan is to be an Astronomer

Vanessa Adams

Parents Names: Amber Proffer, Drew Proffer

Hobbies: Cheerleading, Spending time with friends and family

Community Service: Cambridge Adult Day Center (before it closed)

High School Involvement: Cheerleading Team

College/ Technical Plans: TCC Health Occupations Program, Three Rivers

Career Plans: Nursing

Christian Redding

Parents’ Names: Gail and Mathew Redding

Hobbies: Reading, playing board games, and collecting snow globes

Community Service: Worked at a church’s VBS and did A+ tutoring this summer

High School Involvement: student, sophomore

College/Technical Plans: Attend Three Rivers Community College to get my Associate of Arts degree, and then transfer to College of the Ozarks to get my Bachelors in teaching

Maria Polasek

Parents’ Names: John and Angela Polasek

Hobbies: Sleeping, reading, and playing with my dog, Leo (4 year old Airedale)

Community Service: Volunteering at Bread Shed, Lake Road, Sacred Heart Church, American House Nursing Home (During the summer).

High School Involvement: Beta Club, Interact Club, Spanish Club, Stand For The Silent (SFTS), Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Academic Team, Student Council (Leadership Team), Robotics Team, Head of the Prom Committee, Yearbook Editor, Junior Class President

College/Technical Plans: I am undecided on where I want to attend college, but right now I am thinking of Mizzou, St. Louis University, University of Kentucky, and Michigan State. One of my dream schools would be Northwestern.

Career Plans: I am also undecided on exactly what career I want to pursue, but as of right now, I am deciding between psychiatry, anesthesiology, and Intellectual Property law. For psychiatry and anesthesiology I would more than likely do an undergrad in nursing, while for IP Law, I would consider majoring in psychology. No matter what undergrad path I take, I would love to minor in either Creative Writing or a foreign language as well as do a semester abroad.

Layton Sanders

Hobbies: Band

High School Involvement: Sho-Me Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Studio Jazz Band, All-District Jazz Band

College/Technical Plans: Would like to attend ASU, Mizzou, or SEMO and major in Music Education and minor in Music Performance.

Career Plans: Plans to become a music instructor at the high school and/or college level(s).

Valleri Harris

Parents’ Names: Audrey and Jeff Harris

Hobbies: Piano, choir, drama, martial arts, writing, reading, and playing with (my) dog.

Community Service (Volunteer): Friend’s Ministry, and children’s church and nursery volunteer.

High School Involvement: Drama Club, president and founder of ASL Club, Chess Club, Book Club, and Concert Choir.

Cole Christian
