A ninth candidate has filed to run in the April 7 election for two at-large seats on the Poplar Bluff City Council.

Resident Brent Eason filed Thursday morning, according to city officials.

The terms of at-large incumbents Steve Davis and Ron Black are ending, as well as Ward 5 representative Robert Smith.

Davis has also filed, while Black has not. Black has said he is unsure if he will run for re-election.

Since filing opened Dec. 17, Laura J. Murrell, Christine Taylor, Logan Gilham, Jim Chrisman, former Ward 5 representative Peter Tinsley, Robert Duckett and Chester Pumphrey have also filed as at-large candidates.

Smith has filed for re-election and remains unopposed for his seat.

Filing remains open until Jan. 21.

Filing can be done at the Office of the City Clerk, 501 Vine Street, Poplar Bluff, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the last day of filing.
