Bill Boone Chronister, 95, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Chronister, the son of the late Lyman and Mildred Camille (Doty) Chronister, was born Jan. 5, 1924 in Knob Lick, Mo. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff. Mr. Chronister retired in 1988 from the University of Missouri Extension Service as an Extension Agent for Youth and Community Development. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the WWII He was a Master Mason of 55 yrs., a member of the Barnesville Lodge 353 in Ellington, Mo., and also a member of the Amvets Post 29 of Poplar Bluff.
On Jan. 23, 1945 he married Lucy Quertermous in Corning, Ark. She preceded him in death. On Jan. 16, 2000 he married Marge Jenkins in Carthage, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include his son, Kirk Chronister of Poplar Bluff; 2 grandchildren, Bradley Chronister and Brian Chronister and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his two sons, Steven Alan Chronister and Kent Chronister, two brothers Darrell Chronister and Lonnie Chronister and his two sisters, Annunda Sutton and Lynn Lane.
The visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2020 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A Masonic Service will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel with the funeral service following. The Rev. Travis Quertermous will officiate. Interment with full military honors will be at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
