The countdown has begun as we are only thirteen sleeps away from the big day. Celebrate the final days of the holiday season by following my list of good things to do in honor of the last twelve days of Christmas. Email or write me to share how you celebrated the 12 days of Christmas in your special way. I look forward to hearing from you. Enjoy!
Day 1: Read to your kids/grandkids or special little ones in your life.
Day 2: Watch Christmas movies or your favorite holiday program with the ones you love.
Day 3: Holiday baking is a great way to spend time with your favorite people. Make enough treats to share with neighbors and friends.
Day 4: Put away the phones and tablets and dust off a favorite board game to play with the whole family.
Day 5: Use this day to perform an act of kindness and/or donate to a favorite charity. Remember all good deeds come back to you ten-fold.
Day 6: Sing along to your favorite Christmas carol while driving/riding in the car. Belt out the tune as if you were performing at Carnegie Hall.
Day 7: Homemade gifts are the best gifts in my opinion. Even if you’re not a crafty person there are plenty of fun and easy-to-make ideas and inspiration online.
Day 8: Tell someone about a special Christmas ornament you have or once had. Surprise a friend or loved one with a new ornament for their tree.
Day 9: Visit a nursing home or care facility and hand out Christmas cards or treats. Many facility residents have few visitors and your presence is certain to brighten their spirits. Be certain to get permission from the facility prior to your visit.
Day 10: If possible, spend some quiet time in prayer or meditation on this day. Peace of mind leads to peace in your heart.
Day 11: Attend a school play or community production. Check the DAR for local community and school events in our area.
Day 12: Celebrate the true meaning of Christmas by attending a service at a church or synagogue of your choice. Even if you’re not a regular attendee, you will enjoy the fellowship and music of the season.
Whatever you choose, have some fun checking off your own to-do list this weekend.
