James Howard Dorris, 82, of Poplar Bluff, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family.
James was born on Jan. 16, 1937 in Ellsinore, the son of William and Nellie (Davis) Dorris. On March 24, 1955, he married Patsy Lucille Shepard in Poplar Bluff, together they shared over sixty-four years marriage.
James was retired having been the owner of Dorris Plumbing and Septic Tank Service for many years. He was a twenty-five year member of the Teamsters Union local # 574.
James was a member of Collins Chapel Church, he always enjoyed going to the coffee shop and having breakfast with family and friends. James was fond of being outdoors and liked to hunt, fish and care for his cattle.
James loved his family and treasured his time with them, he truly was a good husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to all.
In addition to his wife, Patsy Dorris of the home, James is survived by his children, Dena (Dennis) Baldi of Herrin, Ill., Rocky (Sharon) Dorris of Poplar Bluff, Kim (Rick) Harris of Mt. Juliet, Tenn. and Glenda Kenner of Sparta, Ill.; grandchildren, Travis (Laura) Dorris, Candis (Nathan) Maurer, Heather Dorris, Danielle Oziah, Travis Kenner, Chelsea (Patrick) Lombardi), Caleb (Shelbi) Harris, Cassidy Harris and Emma Harris; great-grandchildren, Landen Maurer, Molly Maurer, Chase Maurer, Macy Dorris, Tucker Dorris, Declan Lombardi, Oliver Lombardi, Vincent Milstead, Athena Milstead, Natilie Kenner, Xander Kenner and Dominic Kenner. Other survivors include siblings, Ray Dorris and Gladys (Gene) Scott.
James was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jean Laster, June Tune, Glen Dorris, Willie Dorris and Maxine Dorris.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of service Thursday, Nov. 21 in the chapel at Moore Funeral Service, 1100 Iron Bridge Road, Poplar Bluff, MO. The funeral will begin at 1 p.m. with Rev. Steve Patterson officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Cochran Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
