Two area residents were seriously injured in separate crashes on Southeast Missouri roadways.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at 12:49 a.m. Saturday, Justin M. Mell, 24, of Fredericktown was operating a 2012 Honda Civic northbound on Highway 21, five miles south of Arcadia when his vehicle ran off the right side of the road. Mell’s car then reportedly struck a bridge parapet end.
Mell’s passenger, Douglas M. Eisenbeis, 49, of Williamsville, suffered serious injuries and was flown to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur, Mo., for treatment.
Sharon Willcut, 73, of Poplar Bluff was seriously injured at 6:28 p.m. Friday in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 67, two miles south of Poplar Bluff.
According to the patrol, Eldon E. Willcut, 75, of Poplar Bluff was operating a 2004 Toyota Tacoma westbound when he pulled into the path of a 2004 Dodge van being driven southbound by Kathy L. Anders.
Eldon Willcut suffered moderate injuries, and both of the Willcuts were taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for treatment.
