City firefighters responded at 12:16 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, to a report of an unauthorized burn in the alley between Neat and Center streets.

According to the report, firefighters found a burn barrel on fire in the back yard at the 1002 Grand Ave. residence owned and occupied by Terraine Foulk.

Firefighters reportedly used 20 gallons of water to put out the fire and told Foulk about the city’s burn ordinance.

City firefighters responded at 9:08 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, to a report of a smell of something burning at the 1004 Mary St. residence occupied by Hannah Duke and owned by Katie Duke.

According to the report, firefighters detected the smell of trash burning in the neighborhood upon their arrival.

Firefighters checked the home with the department’s thermal-imaging camera, but nothing was found.

City firefighters responded at 6:53 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, to report of a fire in the street at the intersection of Eighth and Cherry streets.

According to the report, firefighters found two small trash fires burning in the street on Poplar, just east of Eighth Street. Firefighters used two gallons of water to put out the fire(s).

City firefighters responded at 6:29 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, to an alarm at Bluff Imaging, 2588 N. Westwood Blvd. It was investigation only.

City firefighters responded at 4:52 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, to a carbon monoxide detector sounding at the 2415 Channon Drive residence occupied by Darla Gremaldo.

According to the report, Gremaldo told firefighters she had been getting dizzy.

Firefighters found a detector with a bad battery and contacted Spire to check the gas appliances.

Firefighters installed a smoke detector in the home.

City firefighters responded at 1:19 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, to a smoke alarm sounding at 314 N. G St., owned by the Poplar Bluff Housing Authority.

According to the report, firefighters could hear the detector sounding upon their arrival, but found the doors locked.

The police department’s housing officer was requested to open the door.

Upon entry, firefighters found no smoke or fire.

Maintenance personnel replaced the faulty battery.

County firefighters responded at 2:27 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, to a report of a grass fire at 69 Merino Lane.

According to the report, a small area of grass burned. The fire reportedly spread to a shed, which was destroyed.
