CORNING, Ark. — Bettie Jo (Allyn) Wiedeman, of Corning, departed her earthly home on Nov.1, 2019 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Ark. at the age of 90. Bettie was born on April 24, 1929, in Sherman, Texas to Floyd Elisha and Gladys (Millikin) Allyn. She married James “Buddy” Wiedeman on Dec. 1, 1947. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2009...

CORNING, Ark. — Bettie Jo (Allyn) Wiedeman, of Corning, departed her earthly home on Nov.1, 2019 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Ark. at the age of 90.

Bettie was born on April 24, 1929, in Sherman, Texas to Floyd Elisha and Gladys (Millikin) Allyn. She married James “Buddy” Wiedeman on Dec. 1, 1947. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2009.

Bettie was affectionately known as “Granny” by those who knew and loved her. She worked picking cotton and driving tractors alongside her husband on the farm. After retirement, she worked as the shoe department manager and later as a door greeter at Corning Walmart.

Granny was also a homemaker who enjoyed cooking everyone’s favorite dishes, especially chicken and dumplings. She was a wonderful caregiver to everyone around her. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, shopping, gardening, and spending time with her family. She loved her church and was one of the last living members of Shiloh Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children, Larry (Mary) Wiedeman, Susie (Cliff) Gifford both of Corning, and Jim (Kendra) Wiedeman of Russellville; brother, Floyd (Rita) Allyn of St. Peters, Mo.; grandchildren, Jeremy (Amanda) Wiedeman, Aaron (Karen) Gifford, Amber Gifford, Courtney (Billy) Slayton, and Jordan Wiedeman; great-grandchildren are Jayden & Kylie Wiedeman, Alli, Jake & Isabelle Slayton, Brittany Ligon and Jordan Wilkison; brother-in-law, Ray Thomas and sister-in-law Gerri Allyn. Granny also left behind two very special “babies”, Maxine and Ruby, her mini Rex rabbits.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy; parents, Floyd and Gladys Allyn; stepmother, Edith “Pete” Allyn; brother, Gary Allyn; sisters, Gladys Mae Allyn and Dorotha Thomas.

Visitation will be from noon until time of service Tuesday, Nov. 5 at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jimmie Millikin officiating.

Serving as pallbearers, Jeremy Wiedeman, Aaron Gifford, Billy Slayton, Carter Shelton, Alan Thomas, and Bob Greer. Memorial donations may be made to Richwoods Cemetery, 561 CR 131, Corning, AR 72422.
