City firefighters responded at 12:42 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, to a report of smoke in the area of 686 Lester St. It was investigation only.

City firefighters responded at 6:59 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, to assist police at a house at the intersection of Franklin and Pike streets.

According to the report, a positive-pressure ventilation fan was used to vent the home, and the fire department provided lighting.

City firefighters responded at 8:17 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, to a smoke detector sounding at the 6005 Warrior Lane residence occupied by Linda Hawkins.

According to the report, firefighters used the department’s thermal-imaging camera and a gas meter to check the residence, but nothing was found.

Firefighters replaced the batteries in two detectors.

City firefighters responded at 4:14 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, to an alarm at 2913 Bedoll Ave. It was investigation only.

City firefighters responded at 7:48 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, to a report of smoke in the area of 1800 Thomas Street.

According to the report, firefighters found a burn barrel behind 1804 Thomas St. owned by Charles Kirkley.

Firefighters told Kirkley about the city’s burn ordinance, and he put out the fire with a garden hose.

City firefighters responded at 9:07 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, to a report of a couch on fire next to a dumpster at 500 N. Main St.

According to the report, firefighters found a small fire next to a dumpster and put it out.

County firefighters responded at 12:10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, to a structure fire at 1787 Highway W.

According to the report, a shop building was fully involved upon the arrival of the fire department. Multiple vehicles, tools and an all-terrain vehicle were destroyed.

A camper trailer used as a residence also was destroyed. The owner was Glen Thornton.

The fire is being investigated by the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office.

County firefighters responded at 1:07 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, to a field fire at 3137 County Road 484.

According to the report, a small area, owned by Debbie Orosz, burned.
