Orlin D. Johnson and Nadine M. (Birdsong) Johnson, of Agee, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Oct. 3.
They were married Oct. 3, 1954, at Second Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff.
Orlin was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Ora D. Johnson and Minnie (Seypohltowsky) Johnson. Nadine was born to Merlin R. Birdsong and Ruby J. (Lewis) Birdsong of the Agee community.
The Johnsons started dating in high school after they were introduced to each other by one of Orlin’s friends. Both graduated from Poplar Bluff High School; Orlin in 1953, Nadine in 1954.
Nadine worked at Stovall’s in Poplar Bluff until the time of the couple’s twins’ birth, Joe D. and Jeanie N. in 1957.
The Johnsons owned and operated Bluff City Garage Door Company from 1975 until April of 2019.
The couple celebrated their anniversary at a cousin reunion at St. Francois State Park in September followed by a later trip to Branson.
