City firefighters responded at 7:55 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, to a report of an unauthorized burn at the 1215 Grand Ave. home owned by Timothy Haygood. Upon their arrival, firefighters found the occupant burning leaves and trash. They used 20 gallons of water to extinguish the fire and notified the occupant of the city’s burn ordinance.

City firefighters responded at 1:42 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, to an alarm at the Karen West Head Start, 405 Karen Dr. Upon their arrival, it was determined work was being done on the alarm system and it had not been taken out of service.

County firefighters responded to a call at 2:22 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, of a field fire at the 3349 County Road 484 residence owned by Matthew Marshall. According to the report, about one half acre burned.
