Irma Leah Schalk, 95, of Poplar Bluff, passed away, Friday, Oct. 18, 2019 at Oakdale Care Center, in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Schalk, the daughter of the late George and Ozie Ethel Spradling Kiser, was born Jan. 9, 1924, in Poplar Bluff. She attended Living Word Baptist Church. During WWII, she worked at International Shoe Company, where she cut out boots for soldiers. In later years, she owned and operated a grocery store on 5th street. Mrs. Schalk was an avid quilter for many years and a lover of all animals.

She married Phillip Woodrow Schalk on Sept. 19, 1940. He preceded her in death on Sept 11, 1954.

Survivor include two children, Janet (Steve) White of Bluford, IL and Phillip (Jeanne) Schalk of Nokomis, Fla.; five grandchildren, Trina Stonner, Kristen Farrell, Andrea Missey, Jason White and Michael White and 12 great-grandchildren

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Kiser and a sister, Dorothy Reed.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. Her granddaughter, the Rev. Andrea Missey will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
