The 11th annual Howling at the Moon fundraiser benefiting the Animal Welfare Alliance (AWA) is set for 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at the Westwood Center in Poplar Bluff.
A $30 ticket donation gets party patrons a full dinner catered by Maya’s Restaurant, complimentary adult beverages and soft drinks, live music by The Millstones, dancing, a howling contest and a silent auction featuring a wide range of items valued at about $50 or more.
Two substantial pieces of patio furniture will be raffled off separately at the party: A dark bronze-tone steel fire pit by Pleasant Hearth-Sunderland (36 inches by 36 inches by 22.8 inches) and a dark bronze cast iron glider bench by Painted Sky Designs, featuring a tree of life motif.
Only 250 raffle tickets are available for purchase. The winning tickets will be drawn during the event and winners need not be present to win.
AWA provides subsidies to qualifying pet owners who need to get their dogs or cats spayed or neutered. Since its first full year of operation in 2009, AWA has spent more than $77,000 helping to spay/neuter area pets in an effort to reduce the number of unwanted and abandoned animals.
In cooperation with Poplar Bluff Animal Control, AWA also helps provide vaccinations for puppies and kittens in the city shelter.
The Animal Welfare Alliance of Southeast Missouri is registered with state and federal authorities as a nonprofit organization under Section 501(c)3 of the U.S. tax code. Donations are tax deductible.
