City firefighters responded at 1:04 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, to a call about the smell of smoke in the building at 614 Lindsay Lane. Upon their arrival, maintenance personnel told them a light ballast was at fault. Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera and determined the light ballast had overheated. Power was cut to the light.

City firefighters responded at 12:27 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, to a call of a strange smell in the area of 2232 Fair St. Upon their arrival, they found nothing and cleared the scene. However, while returning to the station, they were flagged down and told someone mowing the grass had cut a gas line. Firefighters plugged the line and notified Spire Gas, who reported they would disconnect the line.

City firefighters responded at 6:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, to an alarm sounding at 3150 Warrior Lane. Upon their arrival, it was discovered steam from a shower set off the alarm. It was reset.

City firefighters responded at 3:26 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, to a citizen report of a fire in a vacant/condemned building in the 200 block of South Broadway owned by Thomas Denton.
Firefighters entered through the back door and used 1,000 gallons of water to extinguish the fire. A thermal imaging camera was used to check for hot spots, and a positive pressure fan was used to ventilate the building, while employees from Spire Gas, Municipal Utilities and the city building inspector were notified. The state fire marshal’s office responded to the scene.

County firefighters responded at 1:55 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, to a report of a wood fire in the area of County Road 565. Upon their arrival, they discovered it was a controlled burn.

County firefighters responded at 7:33 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, to a report of a roadside fire on County Road 451 at the intersection of Highway M. According to the report, a small area near the road was burned.

County firefighters responded at 8:08 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, to a report of a burning vehicle at 118 B Kali Lane. Upon their arrival, they found a small fire in the console of a 2019 Dodge Ram pickup owned by Matthew Mulholland. According to the report, the vehicle had smoke damage in the cab.
