Poplar Bluff native Charles Jaco will be one of the motivational speakers at the 54th annual Truman Day Rally on Saturday at the Poplar Bluff Holiday Inn.
The meet and greet will begin at 6 p.m.
Jaco is a former CNN news correspondent and a 1968 graduate of Poplar Bluff High School.
Democrat Thelma Brannum of Poplar Bluff explained the group selected Jaco to speak because he is a “hometown guy and a good democrat.”
The Truman Day Rally is a tradition for the local group and an event to raise funds to use to help Democrats who are running for office.
Other speakers will be St. Louis Rep. Peter Meredith, who represents District 80, and Tammy Hardy, candidate for Missouri 33rd Senatorial district, which includes Ripley County.
Tickets are $20 per person and may be purchased at the door.
Dinner will be catered by Karon Campbell.
