NEELYVILLE — David “Hurk” Guthrie, 75, of Poplar Bluff, formerly of Naylor, died Friday, Sept. 6, at Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Guthrie was born March 23, 1944. He had lived in Poplar Bluff for one month, having previously lived in Naylor for 53 years. He had worked at the Gates Rubber Company and also had worked for Naylor Grain.

He enjoyed farming in the Naylor are with local farmers, fishing, bowling, golf, softball and Cardinal baseball. He attended the Church of God at Doniphan.

On April 22, 1966, he married Phyliss Brown in Doniphan. She survives.

Other survivors include two children, Kevin Guthrie and wife, Kelly, of Doniphan and Jeff Guthrie and fiance, Angela, of Fairdealing; four brothers, Paul Guthrie of Tuscon, Ariz., William ‘Bill’ Guthrie Jr. of Gains, Okla.; Robert Guthrie of Mora, Ill., and Johnny Guthrie of Parson, Tenn.; two brother-in-law, Clifford Brown and Mike Brown; six grandchildren, Josh Guthrie of Brooklyn, N.Y., Katelyn Henson, Raymond Henson Jr., Meagan Guthrie, Amanda Jo Guthrie and Jacob Guthrie; and three great-grandchildren, Wesley Lansford, Ava Guthrie and Ann Guthrie.

His parents, William Guthrie and Ruby McCullum Guthrie; daughter, Kristie Henson; two sisters, Mary Ann Sheppard and Letta Faye Guthrie; three brothers, Freddie Leon Guthrie, Jerry Ray Guthrie and Lester Guthrie; one grandson, Tanner Guthrie one brother-in-law, Don Brown, and his mother and father-in-law, Fay and Lorretta Brown, preceded him in death.

Visitation was Monday, Sept. 9 at Fowler & Sons Funeral Home at Neelyville. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 at the funeral home chapel with the Kevin Guthrie officiating and David Dittman assisting.

Burial will be in the Naylor Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
