VAN BUREN, Mo. - A routine traffic stop shortly after noon Monday on Commerce Street in Van Buren landed two men in jail and the recovery of 17 grams of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. VAN BUREN, Mo. - A routine traffic stop shortly after noon Monday on Commerce Street in Van Buren landed two men in jail and the recovery of 17 grams of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Carter County Sheriff Rick Stephens said, Steven Jaco Jr., 44, of Van Buren and Tyler Rayfield, 30, of Fremont were arrested on suspicion of possession of illegal drugs and paraphernalia. Both were booked on a 24-hour hold in the Shannon County Jail.

When Deputies Kris Wilkins and Damion Smith were patting down the two people they found drug paraphernalia as well as meth and marijuana.

Sheriff Stephens said, K9 Lobo located more paraphernalia and product during his sniff search. When they got both men to the sheriff’s office they located more meth and products.

Sheriff Stevens praised his officers by saying, “your hard work during a traffic stop resulted in 17 grams of illegal drugs and paraphernalia recovered and the arrest of two today in Van Buren. Keep up the good work.”
