The Poplar Bluff Police Department arrested a 31-year-old woman on suspicion of shooting her mother in the chest and stomach.
Ashley N. Warren was arrested without incident at JD’s Quick Stop after the police received a tip from a member of the public following a search for her.
The PBPD, Butler County Sheriff’s Department and Highway Patrol were involved in the search.
Warren allegedly shot her mother, 47-year-old Michelle L. Kilgore of Poplar Bluff at around 1:30 Monday afternoon using a .22 caliber pistol. The alleged incident took place in the 300 block of Davis St. Kilgore was shot in the chest and stomach and was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. No information is currently available about her condition.
“There was a scuffle between the mom and daughter and the daughter shot her mom in the chest,” said Detective Andy Cleaveland.
Police are seeking charges of felony in possession of a weapon, first degree domestic assault and unlawful use of a weapon. Information about Warren’s past criminal history is not available at this time.
“When you shoot your mom, I’d say you’re a danger to society,” Chief Danny Whiteley said.
A firearm, believed by police to be one used in the assault, was found on Warren’s person during the arrest.
She was booked in the Butler County jail. Police requested no bond for her.
