Niswonger to celebrate 90th birthday Sunday

George Edward Niswonger, of Poplar Bluff, will celebrate his 90th birthday Sunday. He was born Sept. 1, 1929, in Arkansas.

Niswonger and his wife, Mable, have lived in Poplar Bluff for over three decades and celebrated 71 years of marriage this past April.

Asked about the secret to his longevity, Niswonger says, “Trust the man upstairs and do unto others...”

He and Mable raised six children, Glen, who passed away in 2017, Sharon, Jerry, Pat, George Jr. and Pam. They have also been blessed with 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, plus three new great-grandsons.

Niswonger said he plans to spend his birthday with family, lots of grandkids and friends.
