The Three Rivers College Patrons of the Arts Society is taking steps to make the arts more accessible to the people of Poplar Bluff.

Through the patrons and sponsors, the Society is bringing 14 shows to Poplar Bluff for the 2019-20 season.

“Each year we are building new fans of live theater,” TRC President Dr. Wesley Payne said. “The patron season is completely community funded. No tax dollars go into putting this on. It’s because of people like you in our community who step up and make a difference.”

Along with announcing the lineup Thursday night, Payne and Robert Robert Abney, director of the Tinnin Fine Arts Center, announced a new ticketing system which will allow people to select their seat for any show at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center when purchasing their ticket. This is available online for a $1.75 convenience fee or in person and over the phone for no fee.

Kicking off this season of patron shows is Fabulous Fanny: The Songs & Stories of Fanny Brice on Sept. 26. The show follows the story of torch singer, comedian and actress Fanny Brice.

The Four Tenors will be in Poplar Bluff on Oct. 28 as part of the group’s first tour in the U.S.

The Moscow Ballet will be returning this season to perform their rendition of “The Nutcracker” in Nov. 11.

In December will be the gospel trio 11th Hour.

Starting off 2020 will be The Russian National Ballet performing “Sleeping Beauty” on Feb. 3 followed by Arkansans gospel group Jubilation Jazz on Feb. 14.

Finishing out the lineup of shows at the Tinnin Center will be blues guitarist Alvin Youngblood Hart on March 19.

Along with these shows hosted at the Tinnin Center, four shows in 2020 will be held in partnership with the Rodgers Theatre and will be hosted there.

The first is Gene Watson on Feb. 27 followed by Rhonda Vincent on April 24. In May will be A Neil Diamond Tribute on the 16th, followed by Carpenters Once More on the 17th.

Shows held at the Tinnin Center will be $15 per ticket when purchased over the phone or in person. Tickets are also available online with a $1.75 convenience fee.

The shows at the Rodgers Theatre will be different in price, but can be purchased online, in person or over the phone.
