City firefighters responded at 5:26 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, to a report of a grass fire at the intersection of Relief Street and Grand Avenue.
According to the report, firefighters used five gallons of water to put out a small grass fire beside the street.

City firefighters responded at 4:53 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, to an alarm at Unity Academy, 1801 W. Maud St. It was investigation only.

City firefighters responded at 12:17 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, to a report of an unauthorized burn in the 1500 block of Alice Street.
According to the report, firefighters found a small fire in the fence row behind 1515 Alice St. The fire was burning unattended, and insulation was being burned off copper wire.
Firefighters put out the fire and disposed of the wiring.

City firefighters responded at 5:55 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, to a possible structure fire at the intersection of Foley and Garfield streets.
According to the report, firefighters arrived to find that police officer(s) had used a fire extinguisher and removed burning debris from near a deck at the home.
Firefighters put out the remaining fire and checked the structure for any fire extension in the basement.
During the investigation, firefighters found evidence the home previously had burned. The home reportedly burned in October.
The cause of the new fire is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

City firefighters responded at 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, to report of a possible structure fire at 917 Hickory St.
According to the report, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from one side of a two-story, wood-frame home upon their arrival.
Firefighters reportedly made entry and found fire in the attic space. Firefighters had to breach the ceiling to gain access to the fire.
Firefighters reportedly attacked the fire on two side and set up a positive-pressure ventilation fan.
Firefighters checked the home for possible victims; none were found. Municipal Utilities and Spire personnel responded to shut off services to the home.
About 10,000 gallons of water was used to put out the fire.
One firefighters reportedly received IV fluids at the scene due to overexertion.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office and police Criminal Investigation Division are investigating the cause of the fire.

City firefighters responded at 5:39 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, to an alarm at the Fairfield Inn and Suites, 3109 Oak Grove Road. It was investigation only.

City firefighters responded at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, to an unknown fire in the area of Alice and Garfield streets near the water tower.
According to the report, firefighters were told en route the fire was at 1916 Alice St., and firefighters found the structure fully involved upon their arrival. Fire reportedly was coming through the roof.
A positive-pressure-ventilation fan was set up at a door to remove smoke and a ladder was set up in the front of the structure to extinguish the fire in the attic through a gable vent.
Municipal Utilities and Spire gas company were contacted about the fire.
Firefighters used 1,500 gallons of water to put out the fire, which is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
