According to the report, firefighters found someone had set an article of clothing on fire on the outside concrete waiting area.

City firefighters responded at 11:37 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, to a report of an unauthorized burn at the intersection of Washington and D streets.

According to the report, firefighters found someone had been burning behind 409 Washington St. The fire reportedly was out.

City firefighters responded at 11:12 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, to a report of a grill fire at the 502 Bartlett St. residence occupied by Emanuel Murrell.

According to the report, firefighters found Murrell standing out front. There was a small grease fire burning in a gas grill.

Firefighters reportedly pulled the grill away from the structure and put out the fire.

City firefighters responded at 3:58 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, to an alarm at Johnston Industrial Supply, 2276 S. Westwood Blvd. It was investigation only.

City firefighters treated a person who walked in station No. 3 on Highway 53 at 5:55 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, with minor injuries from an motorized scooter accident.

According to the report, the operator told firefighters a vehicle pulled out in front of him and caused him to run off the road and lay his scooter on its side.

The man refused to contact the police or be transported to a hospital for treatment.

Firefighters cleaned and treated a small cut on his left forearm area.

City firefighters responded at 1:33 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, to a vehicle fire in the parking lot at 2233 N. Westwood Blvd.

According to the report, firefighters found nothing showed upon their arrival, but the hood was up on a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban, owned by Wayne Jenking.

Jenking reported he had been trying to load his wheelchair.

Firefighters checked under the SUV’s hood and found no fire; however, wiring had shorted out.

Firefighters removed the positive from the battery, so they could disconnect the wire to the wheelchair lift.

Firefighters told Jenking to have the vehicle checked by a mechanic.

City firefighters responded at 9:46 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, to an alarm at Colton’s Steak House, 2114 N. Westwood Blvd. It was investigation only.

City firefighters responded at 6:14 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, to a report of a structure fire at 425 Center St.

According to the report, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from one side of the structure.

Firefighters began extinguishing the fire from the exterior on that side, and after forcing entry into the home, a positive-pressure ventilation fan was set up.

Firefighters entered the home to put out the remaining fire.

Municipal Utilities and Spire gas company employees responded. The power reportedly already was off, but its meter was removed.

Firefighters used 1,000 gallons to put out the fire, which is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

According to the report, the woman had light road rash, but refused treatment from emergency-medical-services personnel.
