Orscheln Farm and Home opened Tuesday morning at a newly renovated location in the former Kmart building at 2235 N. Westwood Blvd.

The business had a nearly $1.3 million renovation planned for the 57,000-square-foot section of the building they occupy.

Orscheln has just over two-thirds of the 86,300-square-foot structure, with the Goodwill Excel Center already operating in the other space.

The expanded space includes a new Orscheln Outdoors department that features select firearms, fishing gear and outdoor apparel, according to a press release. Other departments, like clothing and pet, have increased in size. Customers will see an expansion of current brands, the company reports.

“We are excited to be in this improved location that is a better facility and easier for our customers to shop,” District Manager Randy Croney said in a press release. “Orscheln has been part of the Poplar Bluff community for many years, and we hope that both long-time and new customers will stop in to see the remodeled store.”

Orscheln opened in Poplar Bluff in 1996.

Its former location at 950 N. Westwood Blvd., was also a former Kmart store.

Kmart operated at the 950 addressed from 1977 to 1990, when the retailer moved to the 2235 address. Kmart closed its Poplar Bluff location in early 2018.

Orscheln Farm & Home has served Midwest communities for six decades and owns and operates 167 stores located in 11 states: Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and Texas. All operations originate from the corporate offices in Moberly, Missouri, which is also the home of its distribution center and one Orscheln Farm & Home store.
