A Poplar Bluff company expects to grow by another 50-60 jobs by the fall following recent remodeling.
NewWave Communications recently renovated its building on North Westwood Boulevard, the former home of Municipal Utilities. The work comes with the addition of an expanded call center, according to company officials, who say they hope to be staffed by mid-October.
The company anticipates 50-60 call center jobs, said Steve Halter, president of the Greater Poplar Bluff Area Chamber of Commerce.
“This is very exciting for our area and should give us a significant economic boost,” Halter said. “It is important to have a good variety of industries in a community.
“We are blessed to have a strong base in manufacturing, health care, education, financial and service industries and believe that a call center is an excellent addition.”
The chamber is thankful NewWave Communications has chosen Poplar Bluff for their investment, he said.
NewWave will partner with the chamber Aug. 15 to host Connect at 4, from 4-6 p.m., at the NewWave office. This event is for chamber members, but will include a look at upgraded retail space, information on new job opportunities and other information about NewWave.
A community event and open house will be held from noon-3 p.m. Aug. 16.
“We are thrilled to welcome the community to our new retail office and call center and to bring more jobs to Poplar Bluff,” Reid Morgan, NewWave Poplar Bluff general manager, said in a press release. “We love being a part of the Poplar Bluff community and know that we have a talented pool of residents who are friendly, helpful and have a great work ethic — everything we are looking for in order to provide the best possible service to our customers..”
NewWave Communications is a broadband company delivering internet, television and telephone services.
