Gunters to celebrate 70th wedding anniversary July 23

Cecil and Margaret Gunter, of Lake Wappapello area, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary Tuesday. The couple were married on July 23, 1949 in Pocahontas, Arkansas.

The Gunters spent a few years in St. Louis, later moving to their farm in the Beaver Dam area near Grandin, Mo. After retirement, the couple settled in the Lake Wappapello area where they now reside.

Mr. Gunter owned and operated a service station in later years and he and Margaret enjoyed spending time together in their garden.

The couple raised two children, Joyce Thorn of Virginia and Cecil Eugene Gunter of the Poplar Bluff area. They have three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The Gunters plan to spend a quiet day together on their anniversary.
