POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Geneva T. Godwin, 84, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 12:58 a.m. June 20, 2019, at Mount Vernon Health Care Center in Mount Vernon. She was born October 5, 1934, in Bennettsville, South Carolina to Lewis and Leta Therrell. She married James B. Godwin on September 22, 1956, at Little Creek, Virginia.
Geneva is survived by her son, Paul (Pete) Godwin and wife, Nancy of Omaha, Nebraska; daughters, Jennifer Hendricks and husband, Reggie of Poplar Bluff and Katherine (Katie) Schroeder and husband, Steve of Wayne City, Illinois. grandchildren Ryan Hendricks and wife Ashley of Poplar Bluff, Jacob Godwin and wife Ellie of Omaha, Nebraska and Andy Godwin of Omaha, Nebraska; great grandchildren Ryker, Jaxon and Amelia Hendricks of Poplar Bluff.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents; 11 siblings, grandchildren, Holly Renee and Max Timothy Hendricks and ex-husband, James (Jim) Godwin.
Geneva was a homemaker and worked as a cook for Poplar Bluff schools until she retired. She loved to garden, fish and spend time with family.
Visitation will be from 2-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 16 at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. A celebration of life service will follow.
