A Stoddard County judge ordered a Poplar Bluff man to stand trial Monday on six sexual-related felonies involving a young girl.
Associate Circuit Judge Joe Satterfield entered his order in Thomas William Mosley’s case after the 40-year-old earlier appeared before him for a preliminary hearing on May 17 on four unclassified felonies of first-degree statutory sodomy, six Class E felonies of incest and two counts of the felony of first-degree statutory rape.
During that hearing, Satterfield heard testimony from two witnesses, Beverly Tucker and Anthony Harper, forensic interviewers with the Children’s Advocacy Center in St. Louis. Both had interviewed Mosley’s alleged victim.
Harper, according to earlier reports, testified as to what the child had told him about the alleged incidents involving Mosley.
The alleged abuse reportedly occurred at four different homes in Butler County, including Mosley’s home on County Road 4415, and was reported to have occurred between Dec. 22, 2017, and Nov. 11, 2018.
After hearing from the witnesses, Satterfield took the case against Mosley under advisement.
The “court again takes up this matter and after fully considering the testimony and evidence presented” finds probable cause “to believe the charged offenses" — three counts of first-degree statutory sodomy and three counts of incest — “were committed and probable cause to believe that (Mosley) committed those offenses,” according to a Casenet docket entry.
“It is ordered that (Mosley) is bound over” on those counts to Division I, and he is ordered to appear at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, the docket entry further says.
Mosley is to appear at that time before Presiding Circuit Judge Michael Pritchett for arraignment on the charges.
Satterfield also ordered Mosley be “discharged” as to his remaining charges — one count of first-degree statutory sodomy, three counts of incest and two counts of first-degree statutory rape.
“ … those counts are ordered dismissed,” the docket entry further said.
Mosley remains free on a $200,000 bond.
