WILLIAMSVILLE, Mo. — Mark Luke, 58, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., formerly of Williamsville, died Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, Poplar Bluff. Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m., Thursday, June 6 at Ruegg Funeral Home Williamsville. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. also at Ruegg Funeral Home, Williamsville chapel. WILLIAMSVILLE, Mo. — Mark Luke, 58, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., formerly of Williamsville, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2019, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. He was born on October 13, 1960, in St. Louis, Mo., to Oda Lavon and Vernell (Osborne) Luke.

Mark was a loving son, husband, father, brother and uncle. He married Virginia Acton on February 18, 1995, in Columbia, Mo. He was raised in St. Louis. Mark was a self-employed horse trainer. He also worked in the governor’s mansion during Governor Carnahan’s time in office. He enjoyed watching wildlife, and especially liked playing with snakes. Mark was a talker and never met a stranger. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Virginia will miss everything about him.

Mark is survived by his loving wife of twenty-four years; his mother; Vernell Luke of Williamsville; his children, Matthew and Mark Luke, both of St. Louis; Debra Hayden and husband, Chris; Anna Bassnet, Rachel Damon and husband, Joey, all of Columbia, Mo.; grandchildren, Shelby Hayden, Brianna Lyons, Brian Bassnet, Abby Bassnet, Sahara Damon; a great-grandchild, Grant Hayden; brothers, Donnie Sanders, Richard Sanders, Marty Luke; sisters, Sharon Feltner and husband, Bruce, of Plainfield, Ill.; Karen Bishop and husband, William, of Greenville, Mo.; and Teresa Spaits and husband, Jason, of Farmington, Mo.; uncles, Bob Luke and wife, Betty, of Bogart, Mo. and Vernon Osborne of Poplar Bluff; an aunt, Virgie Nunn of Poplar Bluff.

He is preceded in death by his father; grandchildren, Franklin Acton, Justice Acton, Tessa Bassnet and Ezekiel Damon; and a great-grandchild, Leela Lyons.

Mark will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m., Thursday, June 6 at Ruegg Funeral Home in Williamsville. Funeral will follow at 2 p.m. also at the Ruegg Funeral Home Williamsville chapel. Burial will be in Rucker Cemetery.
