NEELYVILLE, Mo. — Our Father, God in Heaven called an angel, Barbara Sue Baccus of Harviell, Mo., home on Sunday, June 2, 2019.
Barbara was born July 28, 1947, in Qulin, Mo., to the late Elvis and Era (Hicks) Gordon.
On November 4, 1964, she married Clifford “Sonny” Baccus of Coon Island.
She worked at Briggs and Stratton for many years and retired in 2011. She also helped with the family sawmill business for over 50 years.
She enjoyed gardening, reading her Bible, spending time with her family, and looked forward to their weekly Sunday dinner gatherings. No matter who you were, if you showed up, you were treated like one of her own.
She was a member of the Full Gospel Church in Poplar Bluff. Her faith in the Lord was immeasurable, creating a blanket of protection that blessed her entire family.
Her family was everything, encompassing her whole heart and she was the glue holding them together. She was truly a beautiful soul, loved by so many and will be immensely missed by her family, extended family and anyone who ever walked through her door.
She is survived by her husband Sonny of 54 years; two daughters, Rhonda Dye (Wayne) of Harviell, Stephanie Anderson (Jay) of Jackson, and Allen Baccus (Bridget) of Neelyville; four sisters, Joyce Davis (Elvis) of Piggott, Ark., Karen Silkwood (Charles) of Oxly, Connie Gordon of Poplar Bluff, and Carlotta Eakins (Tony) of Poplar Bluff; one brother, Dennis Gordon (Donna) of Poplar Bluff; 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and special to the family, Amy Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, James Lyle Baccus and David Brooks; one sister, Peggy Head; and two brothers, Dale and Dean Gordon.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, at Fowler & Sons Funeral Home in Neelyville. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5 in the chapel with Donnie Fowler officiating. Burial to follow at Coon Island Cemetery.
