John 'Shorty' Riepe

FISK, Mo. — John ‘Shorty’ Riepe, age 83, of Broseley, Mo., died Monday, May 27, 2019 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Mr. Riepe was born October 1, 1935 in Poplar Bluff, Mo. son of the late John and Mabel Riepe.

He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a volunteer driver at John J. Pershing VAMC transporting patients to and from doctor appointments. Mr. Riepe enjoyed reading the Bible and western books.

He is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Morgan and husband Robert of Fisk, Janet Mannon and husband Roger of Broseley; two sisters, Billie Bates of Poplar Bluff and Amy Maxwell of Mesa, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Shelly Gray and husband Scott, Brandon Austin and fiancé Jennifer; great-grandchildren, J.J. Ellsworth, Joey Chaffin, Deion Austin, Dakota Austin, Kourtney Gray, Travis and Troy Landers, Riyah McRoy and Daltin and Dillin Nelson.

Mr. Riepe was also preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Stevenson and Betty Stroud and one brother, Eddie Riepe.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 1 at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Mike Stevenson officiating. Burial will be in Ash Hill Cemetery East at Fisk. Condolences: www.whitesandersfuneralhome.com
