NEELYVILLE — Jim D. Young, 73, of Naylor died Friday, May 24, 2019, at his home.
Mr. Young was born Oct. 23, 1945, in Poplar Bluff. He had worked as an assemblyman at Briggs and Stratton. A resident of Ripley County since 2002, he previously lived in Imperial, Missouri.
He enjoyed hunting, running his dogs, playing bingo, bluegrass music and spending time with his family. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Doniphan. A veteran of the Army, he was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam era.
On July 17, 1969, he married Donna J. Ross of Chaffee. She survives.
Also surviving are three children, Michelle Truett of Naylor, Chuck Walden of Crownsville, Maryland, and Susan Hebisen of St. Charles, Missouri; two sisters, Loretta Sullivan and Louise Johnson, both of Poplar Bluff; grandchildren Noah, Vincent, Elizabeth, Chandler, Matt and Sara; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Young and Florence Fowler Young; and three brothers, Calvin Young, Weldon Young and Glen Young.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Fowler & Sons Funeral Home in Neelyville. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Grider officiating. Burial will be in Gum Cemetery on B Highway in Naylor, with full military rites.
