Mid Johnson

BROSELEY, Mo. — Mid Johnson, age 86, of Broseley, passed away April 29, 2019 and is now standing in the presence of his Lord and Savior. Born in Breathitt County, Kentucky to Henry and Paulina (Spencer) Johnson, he was one of six children. He has returned to the loving arms of his wife of 64 years, Wilma Faye (Adams) Johnson, who had preceded him in death four months earlier.

A proud Veteran of the Korean War, he served in the 68th Chemical Company where he earned the rank of sergeant. He was awarded the United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Ribbon with one Bronze Service Star, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation and the Sharpshooter badge.

He was a proud member of the United Auto Workers Union, retiring in 1994 from the General Motors Truck and Bus plant in Pontiac, Mich. He was a respected long time deacon of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Oxford, Mich. and later at the Twin Rivers General Baptist Church in Broseley.

He loved his friends and family and was loved by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and his five siblings, Earl, Edith, Magdalene, Ray and Ed. He leaves behind his children, James Henry (Nancy) Johnson, Julie Ann Johnson, Linda Kay (Michael) Odden, and Rose Marie (Michael) Lehn. Grandchildren, Windi Leigh Johnson, Lucas Tucker (Kristin) McKinnis, Cody Lee (Tara) McKinnis, Ryan Michael (Kristal) Odden, Steven Kenneth (Cara) Johnson, Jessica LeAnn (Eric) White and Melissa Sue (Bryan) Becker. He also leaves 15 great-grandchildren.
