City firefighters responded at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, to an alarm at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, 3100 Oak Grove Road. It was investigation only.

City firefighters responded at 9:16 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, to a report of smoke coming from the roof at the concession stand at Whiteley Park, 500 Highway 53.
According to the report, firefighters found no visible smoke upon their arrival; however, bystanders directed them to the side of the building where the power lines were connected. Firefighters found light smoke coming from the lines.
Firefighters reportedly checked the building and inspected the breaker boxes.
Municipal Utilities personnel responded to the scene and found an aluminum connector had shorted. It was replaced.

City firefighters responded at 8:32 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, to a report of a grass fire in the 600 block of Abbott Street.
According to the report, firefighters found an unauthorized burn at the 615 Abbott St. residence occupied by Angelo O’Neal and used 40 gallons of water to put it out.
Firefighters also told O’Neal about the city’s burn ordinance.

City firefighters responded at 3:12 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, to an report of an unauthorized burn at 806 Emma St.
According to the report, the fire was out upon the arrival of the fire department. Firefighters remained on the scene until code enforcement officer(s) talked to the occupant.
