City firefighters responded at 12:06 a.m. Monday, April 29, to a report of shed fire behind the 855 Lester St. residence occupied by John Myrick and owned by Jim Shearer. City firefighters responded at 12:06 a.m. Monday, April 29, to a report of shed fire behind the 855 Lester St. residence occupied by John Myrick and owned by Jim Shearer.

According to the report, a building located about one-half block north of the intersection of Ninth and Lester streets was found to be fully involved.

Firefighters used 3,000 gallons of water to put out the fire and used the department’s thermal-imaging camera to check for hot spots.

Municipal Utilities and gas company personnel were notified to respond to the scene.

City firefighters responded at 12:46 p.m. Sunday, April 28, to report of trash being burned in the back yard of John Abernathy’s residence at 822 Cherry St.

According to the report, a garden hose was used to put out the fire.

According to the report, firefighters found a small unattended fire in a vacant lot and used 10 gallons of water to put it out.

According to the report, firefighters found an occupant cleaning up his yard and all he was burning was small tree limbs.

City firefighters responded at 9:29 p.m. Friday, April 26, to a report of smoke in the area of Cole Avenue.

According to the report, firefighters found an unauthorized burn at the 815 Cole Ave. residence occupied by Michael Rushing.

Firefighters contacted Rushing, who put out the fire.

City firefighters responded at 8:40 p.m. Friday, April 26, to a report of heavy smoke in the 900 block of North 10th Street.

According to the report, firefighters found a large unattended fire burning at 801 N. 10th St. and used 20 gallons of water to put it out.

City firefighters responded at 4 p.m. Friday, April 26, to assist emergency-medical-services personnel at 934 Nooney St.

According to the report, firefighters helped EMS package and load an unresponsive patient into an ambulance to transport to an emergency room for treatment.
