Tanya Burkhart is in first grade and is the daughter of Misty Ward and Bobby Burkhart. Her teacher is Ms. Cathy Burnett and chose Tanya because she “has worked very hard this year to improve her reading and math skills. She is a hard worker in reading and math and is always willing to try new and hard concepts”. Ms. Burnett says Tanya does not give up when things get hard and is a great friend and helper.
Tanya enjoys gymnastics and wants to be an opera singer when she grows up.
Sophia Wilson is in second grade and is the daughter of James Abbott and Patiricia Lindsey. Her teacher is Mrs. Jennifer Robertson and chose Sophia because she “follows the classroom and school expectations” and “tries her best in her school work and never gives up”. Mrs. Robertson says Sophia “goes out of her way to help other people” and “is an amazing leader in our classroom”.
Sophia enjoys playing with her sister and riding her bike with her cousin. She loves to jump on the trampoline. Sophia wants to be a teacher when she grows up.
Maycee Grey is in third grade and is the daughter of Greg Grey and Kristen Smith. Her teacher is Mrs. April Sandlin and chose Maycee because she “is a true example of what a leader looks like” and “has a heart for others”. Mrs. Sandlin says Maycee always does the right thing “even when nobody is looking” and is “beautiful inside and out” showing her daily “positive and loving attitude toward others”.
Maycee like to play with her dog, Rosy and with her sister, Hannah. She likes singing in GLEE at school. Maycee wants to be a teacher at Eugene Field when she grows up.
