City firefighters responded at 10:42 p.m. Monday, April 8, to a report of an unauthorized bur at 315 Davis St.

According to the report, firefighters found a small fire burning in a pit behind the home and used five gallons of water to put out the fire.

City firefighters responded at 8:41 p.m. Monday, April 8, to a report of a possible structure fire at the 619 Kinzer St. residence occupied by Ryan Bowen and owned by Sam Schalk.

According to the report, firefighters found a light haze and smell of smoke when the entered the home.

Bowen reported a heating/ventilation/air conditioning technician had been there earlier in the day working on the system.

Firefighters reportedly accessed the crawl space under the house, where they would find a smell of burnt rubber and light smoke.

The power reportedly was shut down to the system, as well as the system in the adjoining duplex.

Bowen and Schalk were told to have the technician come back to work on the unit.

City firefighters responded at 6:06 p.m. Monday, April 8, to a report of a motor-vehicle crash on the Highland Drive side of Bacon Park.

According to the report, no accident was found near the park; however, firefighters found a car by a creek at the end of Mulberry Street.

The Jeep Cherokee reportedly had rolled off an embankment.

Firefighters stayed with the driver, who was seated on the grass, until emergency-medical-services personnel arrival.

Firefighters disconnected the battery on the SUV and remained until wrecker personnel removed it.

City firefighters responded at 4:47 a.m. Monday, April 8, to a report of a vehicle having struck the residence at 1017 S. 11th Street, occupied by Isaac Eaststep.

According to the report, the home’s gas meter was leaking after a 2018 GMC pickup, allegedly driven by Matt Davis, struck the south wall of the home, shearing off the meter below the shutoff valve.

Firefighters reportedly contacted Municipal Utilities employees to shut off the electricity to the home.

Firefighters evacuated the residents leaving on either side of Eaststep’s home.

Spire gas company personnel also responded and stopped the flow of gas.

The scene was turned over to gas company personnel, and the truck was removed.

City firefighters responded at 7:28 p.m. Sunday, April 7, to a possible unauthorized burn in the area of Davis and Garfield streets.

According to the report, firefighters fond Patricia Uetrecht burning in the backyard of her 701 Garfield Street residence.

After investigating, the fire was found to be an authorized burn.

City firefighters responded at 11:51 a.m. Sunday, April 7, to a motor-vehicle crash just west of the Barron Road and Main Street intersection. It was investigation only.

City firefighters responded at 5:40 a.m. Sunday, April 7, to provide lift assistance at the intersection of Butler and Eighth streets.

According to the report, firefighters found a vehicle standing on its front bumper, with its rear bumper leaning against a wall.

Firefighters removed the vehicle and assisted emergency-medical-services personnel.

Firefighters remained on the scene until the vehicle was removed.

County firefighters responded at 1:58 a.m. Sunday, April 7, to a structure fire at 114 Jolene Lane.

According to the report, the fire caused heavy damage throughout the double-wide mobile home, owned by Roxanne Luther and occupied by Misty Cooksy.
