Niswongers celebrate 71 years of marriage

George Edward Niswonger and wife, Mable, of Poplar Bluff, will celebrate their 71st wedding anniversary Tuesday, April 16.

The couple were married April 16, 1948 in Corning, Ark. for $7.50 by the judge at the courthouse. The couple spent three decades living and working in Illinois before settling into retirement in the Poplar Bluff area.

The Niswongers raised six children, Glen, who passed away in 2017, Sharon, Jerry, Pat, George Jr. and Pam. They have also been blessed with 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren plus three new great-grandsons.

The Niswongers may plan a small trip to Branson, Mo. to celebrate their anniversary.
