POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Matthew S. Quay, 89, of St. James, Mo., died Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Missouri Veterans Home of St. James. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 18 from 10 a.m. to noon at Moore Funeral Service in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 18 at 1 p.m. in the Bloomfield Veterans Cemetery Shelter. Memorials can be made to The Veterans Assistance League 620 North Jefferson St. St. James, MO 65559.

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Matthew S. Quay, 89, of St. James, Mo., passed away on March 13, 2019 at Missouri Veterans Home of St. James.

Matthew was born on December 28, 1929 to John and Evelyn Manspeaker in Altoona, Pa.

Matthew enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1945 at the age 15 later receiving his GED. He served tours in WWII, Korea War, and Vietnam War in which he was awarded the Bronze Star and European Theater Medal. One of his most memorable experiences include serving as Special Escort Guard at the Nuremberg Trials in Germany. After serving 26 years in the Army he enjoyed a successful real estate career.

Matthew is survived by four daughters, Debra Quay (Arne Astad), Valerie Quay, Pandora Napoli (Robert), Susan Greb (Edward); one son, Bret Quay (Karla); and two stepsons, Stephen Tucker, Christopher Tucker (Shana); nine granddaughters, Megan Napoli Carson (Carl) , Christina Napoli, Rebecca Napoli, Halle Storbakken, Hannah Greb, Emma Astad, Ashley Steele (Perry), Amanda Zorn, Teagan Tucker; four grandsons, Matthew Greb, Matthew Leeds, Brian Leeds, Brody Tucker; and six great-grandchildren.

Throughout his life, Matthew was blessed with three wonderful spouses who preceded him in death, Elizabeth (Liz) McCoy, Beulah (Fran) Myrick and Martha (Jane) Krugh; his parents; one sister, Helen Quay Ventress; and one brother, Bill (Dink) Quay.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 18 from 10 a.m. to noon at Moore Funeral Service in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 18 at 1 p.m. in the Bloomfield Veterans Cemetery Shelter.
