POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Nell Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Mickey, 93, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., formerly of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau.

Betty, the daughter of the late Burt Leck and Elsie (Harper) Greeson, was born May 9, 1925 in Poplar Bluff.  She graduated from Poplar Bluff High School, and had retired as owner and operator of Mickey’s Cleaners. 

Betty married Thomas ‘Tom’ E. Mickey on May 15, 1943 in Poplar Bluff.  He preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 2002.

Survivors include six children, Tom ‘Michael’ Mickey of Spring Branch, Texas, Sheila Mickey Porter (Bob) of Marble Hill, Mo., Scott Edward Mickey (Sandy) of Mandeville, La., Clee Mickey Allen of Springfield, Mo., Susan Mickey Bauer (Brian) of New Orleans, La. and Charles DeWitt Mickey (Marilyn) also of Spring Branch, Texas; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister Mary Grace Peterson of Oklahoma.

Always known for the gracious hospitality she shared at her Blue House, she will be missed by many beyond her family. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
