Ruthie Withrow, 73, of Harviell, Mo. died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019 at her residence. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 2 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Bill Orr officiating. Burial will be in Little Brushy Cemetery.

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Ruthie Withrow, 73, of Harviell, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019 at her home.

Ruthie was born Feb. 11, 1946 in Steele, Mo., to the late William and Muriel Bates, and was a lifelong resident of the Poplar Bluff area. She was of the Baptist faith, and was baptized by Bro. Bill Orr on Oct. 14, 1984 at Collins Chapel General Baptist Church. When health permitted she attended Third Baptist Church. Ruthie enjoyed watching the St. Louis and Springfield Cardinal’s baseball games.

Ruthie was married to Teddy R. Luttrull on June 25, 1963. Of this union three children were born; Teddy (Suzy) Luttrull, Tammy (David) Davis and Tracie (Ryan) Deschamp, all who survive. Ruthie and Teddy went their separate ways but remained friends and he also survives. She married James “Dobie” Withrow on Oct. 21, 1989. Dobie joined his six children into this marriage; Deloise (Frank) Reno of Poplar Bluff, Jeanette (Bardis) Dismuke of Harviell, Nancy Ellsworth and Delbert (Johnnie) Withrow of Puxico, Mark (Sharon) Withrow of Alabama and Nathan Withrow of Puerto Rico, all of whom Ruthie grew to love. She had a great love for all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was a special caregiver for her beloved brother, Ernest Bates, who also lived in the home and was well cared for.

In addition to her children survivors include seven grandchildren; Nikki (Ashley) Davis of Poplar Bluff, Justin Davis of Harviell, Teddy Michael Luttrull, Dewayne Dustin Luttrull, Mackenzy Deschamp, Harley Deschamp and Maddie Deschamp all of Poplar Bluff, four great-grandchildren; Heaven and Cameron Burpo of Poplar Bluff and America and Holden Davis of Washington State, a sister-in-law Janie Bates of Williamsville, very good friends; Eva Emmons, Ruby Wright and Bro. Ralph Mayes and a host of other family members, nieces and nephews on her mom’s side. Also very good neighbors and friends who she loved and who also took care of Ruthie and Ernie, Roy and Mona Lee, Willie and Evelyn Holloway, Ed and Ashley Watkins, John and Linda Hobbs and Richard Deason.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruthie is preceded by stepchildren; Nancy Ellsworth, Nathan Withrow and Sharon Withrow, sisters; Reba Prevatt and Carolyn Sexton, brother; Jimmy Bates and sister-in-law; Aline (Curtis) Murphy.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. The Rev. Bill Orr will officiate. Burial will be at Little Brushy Cemetery in Wappapello, Mo.

In lieu of flowers and with everlasting love for her brother Ernest, it was Ruthie’s desire to have donations made to the “Ernest Fund” in her memory.
