WAPPAPELLO, Mo. — Roger Dinkins of Wappapello, Mo., passed away Feb. 25, 2019 in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 1 at Morgan Sifford Funeral Home in Puxico. Burial will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo. Pallbearers will be Dan Grable, Brent Hughey, Nathan Williams, Jeremy Downing, Jacob McClurg and Matthew Dinkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Seabaugh, Melvin Crutchfield, Tommy Luttrell, Jack Downing and Steve Ashbaugh.
Roger was born March 24, 1934 to Charles and Beulah Dinkins in St. Louis, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons; Lenny Dinkins and Jeffrey Dinkins and one daughter; Debbie Downing. He is survived by one son; Ronnie Dinkins of Wappapello, one daughter; Bonnie Luttrell of Keatchie, La., eleven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and his best friend for the past 38 years; Vera Twidwell of Greenville, Mo.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Essex. He then returned home to Wappapello where he farmed with his father, and began his truck driving career that spanned over 50 years. During that time he traveled through 48 states and into Canada.
Roger expressed faith and hope in Christ, but was not a member of any denomination.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kimberly Schisler and the staff in the Memory Care Unit of The Manor in Poplar Bluff for their excellent care and compassion.
