Poplar Bluff resident, Mable Herrin Niswonger, credits faith and family as the key to her longevity. On Feb. 15, she will celebrate a miletone birthday — her 90th.
Mable was raised in Corning, Ark. where she married George Edward Niswonger in April, 1948. The couple then spent three decades living and working in Illinois before finally settling into retirement in the Poplar Bluff area.
She and her husband of 70 years, George, believe their motto of “trust in the Lord and treat everybody right” is the root of their happiness. The Niswongers are active members of Palace of Praise Church in Poplar Bluff and say Pastor Kent Miller is the best minister they’ve ever had.
Mable and George raised six children throughout their marriage; Glenn, who passed away last fall, Sharon, Jerry, Pat, George Edward Niswonger Jr. and Pam. They have also been blessed with 19 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren with three great-grandsons on the way.
Mable says she looks forward to celebrating her 90th birthday with her beloved family and is grateful to “still be going strong.”
