City firefighters responded at 4:05 p.m. Thursday to a report of a stove on fire at the 317 Relief Street residence occupied by An’Niyah Walker, Terra Ruff and Lonnie Ruff and owned by Mike Dovan.
According to the report, firefighters found no visible smoke coming from the two-story, wood home upon their arrival.
A police officer on the scene reported he had went to the top of a stairwell and seen smoke in an upstairs apartment.
When firefighters entered the apartment, they reportedly found it full of smoke and put out the fire.
Windows were opened and a positive-pressure fan was set up to clear smoke from the apartment.
Firefighters told the occupants not to use the stove due to its damage, and their landlord was contacted.

City firefighters responded at 9:10 a.m. Thursday to an alarm at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, 2620 N. Westwood Blvd. It was investigation only.

City firefighters responded at 8:47 a.m. Thursday to a report of smoke coming from a breaker box at the 1209 Gardner St. residence owned by Eva Ray.
According to the report, firefighters found some coming from the conduit below an outside breaker box.
Firefighters turned off power to the breaker and notified Municipal Utilities.
Municipal Utilities personnel reportedly inspected the electrical meter and power going into the house. The problem was found to be below the meter, and Ray was told she needed to contact an electrician to make repairs before the power could be turned back on.
