POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Wilma M. Cavness, 99, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019 at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center in Poplar Bluff. Wilma was born March 21, 1919 in Conway, Ark. She was a member of Fellowship General Baptist Church, and was a loving and devoted wife and mother, who was very proud of her children and their accomplishments. ...

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Wilma M. Cavness, 99, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019 at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center in Poplar Bluff.

Wilma was born March 21, 1919 in Conway, Ark. She was a member of Fellowship General Baptist Church, and was a loving and devoted wife and mother, who was very proud of her children and their accomplishments. For many years she and her husband owned and operated the 502 North C Market and in later years she worked at Cedargate Nursing Home. She also served as a volunteer at Northside Nutrition Center. Wilma loved going to yard sales and traveling throughout the states as well as Alaska, Canada and Mexico.

Wilma married the love of her life Opal Odell “Jack” Cavness on Jan. 28, 1939 in Parma, Mo. He preceded her in death on March 17, 1995.

Survivors include four children, Emma R. (George) Wright of Louden, Tenn., Jack O. (Virginia) Cavness of Poplar Bluff, Dennis L. (Pat) Cavness of Bristal, Pa. and Michael E. Cavness of Atlanta, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Lee Ann Wright of Knoxville, Tenn., Kyle (Patty) Wright and Leslie Downey of Louden, Tenn., Wade (Dee) Cavness of Poplar Bluff, Ginger (Bryan) Emerson of Naylor, Shannon Cavness of Farmington, Jennifer (James) Gabrail and Jacquelyn (Chris) Witzell of Pennsylvania.; ten great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister Velta Melton of Imperial , Mo.

Wilma was also preceded in death by a brother, L.V. Mabry and three sisters, Lillie McIntosh, Lela Bridges and Clella Williams.

The visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. Elder Rob Duckett will officiate. Burial will take place at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
