City firefighters responded at 10:21 a.m. Wednesday to provide lift assistance at 641 Lindsay St.

City firefighters responded at 8:52 a.m. Wednesday to a report of burning at the 929 Pershing St. residence occupied by Larry Rushing.
According to the report, firefighters found an unauthorized burn and used 20 gallons of water to put out the fire. Firefighters also told Rushing about the city’s burn ordinance.

County firefighters responded at 2:35 p.m. Wednesday to a grass fire at 3079 Highway V.
According to the report, a small area, owned by Sherry Preslar, burned.

City firefighters responded at 8:04 p.m. Thursday to a report of smoke in the area of 1529 North Main St. It was investigation only.

City firefighters responded at 7:01 p.m. Thursday to a report of a smell of something hot or burning inside Nick’s Corner Store, 900 W. Pine St., owned by Carol Brotman.
According to the report, firefighters found an odor near the electrical panel. Firefighters used the department’s thermal-imaging camera and found the breaker to the roof heating/ventilation/air conditioning unit was heating up.
Firefighters accessed the roof, checked the unit and found nothing.
Firefighters told employees to have an electrician check the breaker before turning it back on.
