Needed: A used long-bed pickup truck.

The United Gospel Rescue Mission is in desperate need of a long-bed pickup truck with seating cap for four to six adults and executive director Rev. Gregory Kirk is following the scriptures as he shares the need with the Lord and the community.

Matthew 7:7 says, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”

Putting his wishes in gear, the pastor said, “It does not have to be brand new. Just something we can drive to Aldi, get stuff from Pack’s or Gamblin or to pick up a smaller donation.”

Stressing the truck “doesn’t have to be cosmetically 100 percent perfect but we need a truck and soon,” Kirk added, “Our current truck is a ’99 Ford F-250. The bed of the 1999 truck is rusting out. It is on its last leg. Now before you begin trying to sell us the truck of the century we are praying one of our kind and generous donors will give us this truck. Yes, your eyes read this correctly. I am asking someone to donate a basic good running truck to the UGRM.”

Also on the list, the truck needs to be a four-door so four to six people can ride in the cab since many times several men are needed to needed to do a pick-up.

Kirk said he knows the truck is out there and “I am asking you and the Lord for it. If any of the readers have this donation, please call me at 573-785-4683. Not being picky but we do need a long bed truck, a short bed will not meet our needs.”

A long-bed truck would save trips. Presently, Kirk and his crew have to use the box truck to pick up small to medium sized donations they cannot get in the short-bed truck. The long-bed vehicle would allow them to pick up things in one trip and save the expense of using the larger truck. The bigger pickup would also make hauling building and remodeling supplies easier.

“I try not to ask for a lot, and we would rather not have to buy a truck,” Kirk said. “Someone has a used truck, something better than we have. I am praying someone will feel led to donate it. All donations are tax deductible.”
