The Neelyville R-IV Board of Education accepted the resignation of Superintendent Brad Hagood during executive session at Thursday evening's meeting.

Hagood said he has accepted a position with the Doniphan School District as superintendent.

"It was an opportunity I couldn't pass," he said. "I'm in no way leaving the district on bad terms. Everything is going very well right now."

The resignation will be effective June 30 and advertisements to fill the position are being prepared.

Hagood, who has been at the Neelyville School District for 24 years, arrived in the fall of 1995 as a teacher and baseball coach. After six years, he was named high school principal and stayed in that position for another six years until becoming superintendent, where he has served for the past 12 years.

INCENTIVE POLICY

The board approved changes to the district's retirement incentive policy.

As in the past, certified employees who retire from the Neelyville R-IV School District are eligible for a $5,000 incentive with a minimum of 10 years in the district.

New to the policy will be a $2,500 incentive for non-certified employees who retire from the district with a minimum of 20 years at Neelyville.

Certified and non-certified employees will also see a change to sick day compensation in the policy.

Certified employees will see an increase from $20 for each unused sick day to $50.

Non-certified have been added as well and will receive $25 for each unused sick day.
