"What is truth?" This is the question Pilate asks Jesus during his trial. Today we must ask the same thing every time we turn on our computer, TV or radio. We have found many in the media to be less than up front about the truth. Often our truths come from "certain points of view" (for more on this go back and re-watch "The Return of the Jedi"). Our truth is tainted by history and experience. Sometimes it even gets skewed by a desire to be liked or to stay in power. It seems that recently truth has been the victim either of personal ambition or media ratings.

But lest you think the truth is no longer out there, I want you to read John 14:6. Jesus says "I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me." If you are looking for the truth, well, that is Jesus the Christ.

You see, if we truly search for truth, if we really want to know the truth, then it only makes sense to go to the creator of all things including the truth. God created, Jesus is God, so it stands to reason that the truth is Jesus. Not in Jesus, but is actually Jesus, the word made flesh.

This also means that the only way to the creator of truth is to accept the truth. If you want to know God, you first must know Jesus, his only begotten son. Pilate did not realize that he was talking to Truth himself. It wasn't what is truth, it is "Who is truth?"

During the holiday season, people will be searching for something. Many will not know what it is. Maybe you are one of those people. We will try to hide that search in presents and decorations and parties. We will refuse to admit the need for the Truth and instead busy ourselves with all the activities that distract. This will go on until the New Year and then where will we be? Right back looking for the Truth that satisfies and heals.

Folks, you don't have to go any further than Jesus to find the truth. His statement about him being the truth was not meant to limit anyone. It is an invitation to find out what the real truth is. The real truth is this;

Jesus is the son of God.

If you cannot accept the son, you will not be able to accept the Father.

You are always invited to get to know Jesus more.

Salvation comes through Jesus and there is no other way to be forgiven of your sins.

If you truly want to know the truth start by reading your Bible, (if you don't have one find a church or minister and we will see to it you have one). Then go to church, listen to the preacher, get involved in a study and disciple group and above all, pray. These are how you get to the truth.

The world is hard at it trying to give us a false truth, which is just a fancy way of saying a lie. Don't settle for the world's view, we are created for something more. The deeper truth, the real truth is ours because Jesus died and rose again to give it to us.

The truth is not just out there, it is here. Grab hold of it, read it, live in it and let the truth truly set you free. Jesus, the way, the truth and the life, is offering it all the time. All you need do is say yes.

See you in church.
