The Stoddard County Commission met the new Nestle Purina Logistics Manager Chris Peters during Nov. 19's meeting.

Peters takes over for Dan Heil, who was promoted to group manager warehouse and facilities, overseeing several Purina plants.

Peters came to Nestle Purina in 2014 as the materials manager, responsible for all packaging supplies and minerals. He later assumed the receiving department as well and continues those duties since being named logistics manager.

Growing up in Glennonville, Peters is a Campbell High School graduate and worked at Briggs & Stratton in Poplar Bluff before joining Nestle Purina.

"Nestle Purina is a hidden jewel in the county with the number of employees they have, the wages they pay and what they do for the county," Presiding Commissioner Greg Mathis said. "It's quite a facility."

Located in Bloomfield, Nestle Purina employs about 320 people.

CELL PHONE FOR EMA

Stoddard County Emergency Management Agency Director Kent Polsgrove updated the commission on a new push for EMA to have their own cell phone, opposed to using a personal device.

Polsgrove, who uses his personal phone for business, said he is fine with that, but at the risk of something coming up, his phone could be confiscated and considered public domain.

"I take photos often of weather events and get texts," he said.

Following the action of the Stoddard County Ambulance District and 911, Polsgrove said he thought looking into getting EMA a cell phone should be on the radar.

After speaking with Verizon, Polsgrove reported a government account would cost $40 per month and EMPG grant match opportunities are available.

"I think it's a good direction to move for Emergency Management Agency to have an account with a phone," he said.

The commission is expected to begin going over budgets with office holders next week.
