SECKMAN, Mo. -- Poplar Bluff saved one of its best games for the MSHSAA Class 4 District 1 semifinals, but it wasn't enough.

The Mules trailed by one at halftime and gave up a late goal to lose to Jackson 2-0 to end the season.

Xander Martin had a chance to score for the Mules in the first half when he was taken down in the box by the Jackson keeper, but didn't get the call. Later, Martin's shot was deflected by the keeper. The Mules added a few chances in the second half, but weren't able to finish any of them as Poplar Bluff keeper Justin Moses finished with 19 saves.

"Overall proud of their effort and heart in the game we played them very close and had chances to win this game," Poplar Bluff coach Rusty Crafton said. "They had a very good team but we played them very well last night."
